Hmm... How come when the U.S. comments on the Pyongyang talks, they say that everything is going well and that it's very encouraging, but when anyone else comments on them, including North Korea, they basically say that the more they go on, the more danger there is of any negotiations or talks breaking down and them getting their nuclear badass on?

They uh... can't reach Seattle, right?

My take, without knowing too much about the recent negotiations but a little of the history of the North, is that while the threat is probably real and Kim Jong Il (the Illmatic) is whacko, the goal of the North is not to start a nuclear war. They're just really desperate for aid, even though it hurts their Cause to accept help from the Capitalist West.

In the old days, China and the Soviet Union helped prop up North Korea, but the former is becoming less Communist all the time and the latter no longer exists. And the North has very few natural resources so they're dependent on imports of nearly everything.

My guess (and hope) is that the U.S. and others will actually provide some aid and things will cool down. I can't see how the North would think using nukes could ever help their cause.

But I'm an optimist and also don't want to be vaporized.

As the Onion "What do YOU think" column put it a few months ago, "I think it's high time that the West Coast started pulling their weight in the 'scared shitless' department."

Fucked Up
Yeah, how more fucked up could it be... I mean they said they are going to test a nuke soon. And this is a good thing, how?

P.S. Don't move to Tokyo anytime soon, that's about the range on their missles. We're safe... for now. Uhhh I take that back, we are never safe with that som'bitch Bush in the Whitehouse.
