This is what's wrong with sports.

Now, before I go off here, let me say that I understand what it's like to be rooting for your team and to be really close to a title and not get there. I know it sucks.

But come on. "I'm so depressed. I'm going to cry."??? What the hell is that? What kind of life do you lead when a team, which you are NOT on by the way, loses a game and it affects you emotionally? Is there nothing else in your life worth caring about? Is it that pathetic and devoid of any meaning that you can't move on today because your beloved team lost? Nobody died. You didn't lose your job, your house, your family because of it. It's a GAME. It's not that important. That's WHY it's called a GAME. Let it go already.

The second thing that pisses me off: Shame on you, ESPN. Why the hell is it necessary to publish the guy's name, where he lives, where he works, and the names of his family members and neighbors? Are you actually TRYING to get the guy killed? That'd make a great story, wouldn't it? You can't wait to write the article about how all the crazed and unreasonable fans went to the guys house and burned it down, after you practically handed them the gas cans. Fuck you people. I hope you get sued.

Well... that's about all I have to say, other than it sucks to be that guy. I don't understand the lengths people go to to catch a foul ball. Knock your kid over, break your thumb, shove an old lady, whatever it takes. I'm sure the guy didn't think about the consequences at the time. I'm sure it didn't even occur to him that he was affecting the game at all. And I'm sure that if I was in the same seat, I'd probably have instinctively done the same (except that I'm a wuss when it comes to projectiles speeding at me). The guy just did what came natural. And now all he has to do is convince his entire town to sympathize. Bummer.
