The U.S. Senate is expected to vote next week on the Federal Marriage Amendment. That's the AMENDMENT to the CONSTITUTION (that's a document that's supposed to guarantee equal rights for all citizens) that will not only ban same sex marriage, but it will override any other law that requires any of the legal benefits of marriage to be available to any same sex couple. This pretty much means that even the bullshit "civil unions" would be useless because a person wouldn't be entitled to health benefits or death benefits or anything else that straight married people are entitled to. This is fucking wrong and you know it. It's discrimination, and the only arguments one could make to supported it are rooted in religion, which is supposed to be KEPT THE FUCK OUT OF GOVERNMENT.
If you don't write your senators and tell them to vote against the FMA, then you're an asshole and you don't ever get to bitch about anything in the world being unfair ever again. Here. I'll make it easy for you: http://www.ppaction.org/ppaction/home.html. Fill in the little form. They're not going to sell you to the spammers, so quit whining and FUCKING DO IT.
If this thing passes, I think it's time to riot in the streets. The U.S. Constitution is not the place to push wacko religious agendas that aren't enforceable otherwise. The government needs to do what's right for all people, not just what's right in the eyes of their personal deities.
You don't have to be pro-gay to see why this is wrong, just pro-equality.
