Track #3

Today's track is by Hepcat and it's called "Dance Wid' Me":

The song reminds me of one the best times of my adult life. For a few years in the mid-90s, towards the end of the so-called "third wave of ska", there was a weekly ska night at a club in Tempe, AZ called Boston's. There were always two or three bands, including at least one of our three great local bands. Hepcat, The Scofflaws, The Pietasters, The Skatalites, The Toasters... I saw all of them at one point or another on a Wednesday night at Boston's. Newcastles were $2. Sometimes, five or six scooters would meet up somewhere in town and we'd ride to the club together for the show. I didn't care that I'd be out until 3 or 4 in the morning and then have to work at 8. I didn't really care much about anything, because I was having too much damn fun. It could be over a hundred degrees in that club and we'd still dance up a storm for three hours. I remember how good the 40 mph breeze felt on my scooter when I was drenched with sweat. The people were fun to hang out with and the bands were a blast.

Hepcat's always been one of the more well-respected third wave bands. They throw down a nice rocksteady rhythm, sweet horns, and even sweeter vocals. They never let you down during the live show, and they'd always hang out and talk to you at the bar. Thier songs are uplifting and fun, and they don't ask much in return.
