On Vox: Chess - a more effective method

Interesting article from the Washington Post about some WWII interrogators, recently reunited, discussing their methods of extracting information from Germans. They claim that tactics such as steak dinners, chess and ping pong games, and respectful discourse were quite possibly more effective means of getting information than today's bag-over-the-head, nipple-clamping, naked dogpiling procedures found in the Gitmo handbook.
