In memory of Joseph "Blue" Polawsky

Dude. Lemme tell you something. Last night, Susie and I went to the Tractor and saw The Rebirth Brass Band and since you didn't, you messed up real bad.

Rebirth is freaking amazing. Take the love child of your high school marching band and the Parliament Funkadelic. Raise it in New Orleans and make it listen to the Bar-Kays every day. Then give it three trumpets, two trombones, a tenor sax, a bass drum, a snare drum, a couple of cymbals, and one big ass tuba. Now you've got The Rebirth Brass Band. They came out and just played the funkiest jams for over two hours. They had a little crew (including what looked like the group's mom) throwing out beads and stuff, and they had some cool choreographed moves and killer solos, and random shenanigans and god damn it was just so funky! It was so funky, that it actually seemed nutritious. I'd say we got around 3000% of the recommended daily allowance of funk.

If and when this band comes anywhere near you, GO SEE THEM. You won't regret it.

I love that kinda stuff. Used to have a band 'round here that had similar features, called "The Buck Dewey Big Band," and they were always a hoot. Disbanded years ago, and they just can't be replaced.
