Mom! Pleeeeeease?

Look at this Craig's List ad:

3,000 miles Better than new, custom exhaust, lower seat, engine protector hihhway pegs, extra ports, official BMW bags. Has not been riden since 3,000 mile service. Reason for selling is that I live in a gated community that prohibits motorcycles.

What? You live in a what that prohibits what?? You PAID A LOT OF MONEY for a home where they can tell you you're NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE A MOTORCYCLE?

I don't get that at all. Maybe "a gated community" really means "my parents' house" or something.

THEY CAN HAVE MY MOTORCYCLE WHEN THEY PRY IT FROM MY COLD, DEAD CROTCH

That's a very common sort of restriction.

I'd never heard of it... Do they do it because of the noise, or because of the unsavory sort of characters typically associated with motorcycles by the kinds of people who live in communities governed by homeowner's associations?

Its not just gated communities. Many subdivisions with Home Owners Association covenants also do it.

I suspect that it has something to do with bourgeoisie middle aged women and their fear of husbands who get motorcycles and wind up leaving them for biker chicks with trim bodies poured into tight jeans.

As a happily middle aged woman, I can assure that this
is not something we fear....it's something we pray for...
