See above comment.

Hehe, okay, totally unrelated comment it is!

Why do you have three high schools over the same set of four years? It just sort of seemed to suggest an interesting story.

My family moved to Florida after my freshman year. Florida turned out to be a place we didn't want to stay, so a year later, we moved to Arizona.

Also, great icon!

Thanks! So, you weren't actually going to three high schools in different corners of the country all at the same time? Well, that's not nearly as exciting!

Anyway, I happen to be considering a move to Phoenix and harbor a secret desire to retire to Ocean City, so the collection of schools leapt out at me.

I am quite the jetsetter, but not in those days.

I urge you to reconsider your move to Phoenix. Wherever you live now is a better place, I'm almost positive.

Ocean City, on the other hand, is great. It's a dry town, though.

It may be better, but I'm going broke living here. I'm around Boston now, and maybe in a perfect world it would be Portland (either ME or OR, each has its appeal), Seattle, or even back to the outskirts of Philly where I lived when I fell in love with Ocean City. However, my fiancée and I are looking for places where the cost of living is lower and they a). need High School English teachers, b). need web monkeys, and c). have Trader Joe's. This last one is a little less comulsory, but I've run my financial ass into the ground in the past year while she tried to find a school system willing to hire someone with no experience. I need time to recover, or at least my credit rating does.

My mom and brother live in PHX right now and I've been to visit at some of those "perfect" times when you're going from totally crappy, cold weather to seventies and eighties, so my first hand experience is a little skewed, but it seems like it would be a livable place.

Seriously, though, I'm open to any advice or caveats about the move, so if you have any, fire away.

I hear you. I lived in Phoenix for 10 years and I can tell you that if you have any need to live somewhere with a sense of culture and history, then Phoenix will suck your soul dry. Plus - and I'm sure you're aware of this - it's fucking hot. It's stupid hot. There are days when it's pretty much too hot to do anything. I don't care for that one bit.

If you must move to Arizona, I recommend checking in to Tucson. It's still hot, but it feels more like a hometown, as opposed to Phoenix, which feels like it just wants to be L.A. Also, Tucson is crazy cheap to live in, so you can get outta the financial hole and look to the future.

Good luck!
